Sony PMW-F5 Super 35mm 4K Motion Picture Camera

I'm pleased to offer a Cinematography shooting package built around the new Sony F5 super 35mm camera.

Super 35mm, shallow depth of field is a fantastic look that we've all seen in the cinemas for many years. The foreground is in focus the background is immediately out of focus; it's a very pleasing look.

The Sony PMW-F5 is a digital Super 35mm motion picture camera that delivers the much-desired shallow-focus look that’s associated with drama, high-end commercials and documentary. The use of 35mm PL mount cine lenses on the F5 allows me to manipulate focus and depth of field to create pictures that audiences associate with cinematic storytelling.

The F5 has fourteen stops of latitude, which allows the whole picture to be reproduced in a very natural way with lots of details in the dark area of the screen with great highlight handling. It can also shoot Full HD slow motion up to 120 frames per second- 5 times slower than real life.

Aerial Camera Drone

Commonly referred to as drones or UAV, (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), the Quadcopter is flown by a pilot on the ground and can go where a full size chartered helicopter cannot.

I own and fly a DJI Phantom Quadcopter with a Gyro-stabilized camera gimbal that delivers vibration free, precision stabilized footage. Historically aerial shots were only for those with big budgets, but now a small Quadcopter can be airborne in a matter of minutes capturing spectacular, dramatic, high definition footage at a fraction of the cost.

Recording audio has become a day-to-day activity for me.

I understand there isn’t always room in budgets for sound recordists, on such occasions I’m quite happy to take care of sound too.

I've recorded audio on hundreds of interviews both in and outdoors, and having worked with some of the UKs best sound recordists, I’ve picked up many techniques and tips over the years. Rest assured that your sound will be within broadcast limits.

If I’m to film in chaotic environments with dozens of people and you're expectation is to capture great audio "on the fly" then it's really advantageous to have a separate sound recordist with a boom mic.

Included in my kit is an industry standard Sennheiser 416 microphone in a Rycote Full Windshield which captures excelent sound, even in severe wind conditions.

Radio mic wise, I supply two lapel radios as standard and a handheld mic with wireless option, which removes cable trip hazards when shooting vox pops in public areas.

  • Sennheiser 416 microphone with Rycote full windsheild kit
  • K-Tek short boom pole
  • 2 x Sennheisier G3 radio mics (2012 Ch38 Compliant)
  • 2 x Clip-on-mic - TRAM TR50
  • 2 x Clip-on mic - Sennheisier ME 2
  • 2 x AKG D 230 hand held reporters mics with wireless option
  • High wind covers for clip-on mics
  • Sennheiser HD-26 PRO headphones
  • Mic stand with short boom arm

My radio mics operate on channel 38 and conform to the 2012 Digital Switchover Government Policy.

People associate jib arms with big sweeping down from the sky shots, but in fact the majority of jib shots are small subtlemoves.

The Losmandy Porta-Jib Traveller brings a variety of camera moves to your shoot without breaking the budget. Its unique telescopic design allows it to work in constricted areas and also unfold to create a dramatic 6-foot lift.

Unlike inexpensive consumer jibs that bounce on both ends of the move, the Porta-Jib is a professional piece of kit that delivers smooth starts and solid stops.

Comes with Vinten tripod and dolly for easy repositioning

The under-slung fluid head allows front jib operation as the camera floats effortlessly through the air. It also lets the camera be moved all the way to the ground, which isn’t achievable with traditional top-slung heads.

Fitting into a small tripod bag, the Porta-Jib is extremely compact and takes just ten minutes to set-up.

Dolly & Track

With 4-meters of fast set-up aluminium track, the Wally Dolly system is highly compact, super smooth and lightweight.

The alloy track is in 1m lengths and when screwed together the joints are seamless. The Wally Dolly is not rideable or suitable for use on rough terrain.

Atlas 30 Camera Slider - Cinevate

A camera slider allows me to make short, precise dolly moves without the need to set-up and a full size dolly.

The Atlas 30 is an all terrain compact camera slider that adds a silky smooth motion and a sense of depth to video. It's 'all terrain legs' gives the slider extra height to deal with uneven ground. It's non-skid, ball feet are designed to withstand rough ground but gentle enough not to damage delicate surfaces.

The Cinevate Atlas 30 is rock solid with 35-inches of silky smooth movement, light-weight and compact for air travel; great for pack shots.

Great for pack shots - 2.5rpm and a max payload of up to 4Kg
